Activities
Youth work
Beechwood Tots
There are two groups for parents and toddlers, meeting on Tuesday and
Wednesday mornings from 9.30 to 11.30 am. There is a wide range of activities: toys,
singing, mostly traditional nursery rhymes, refreshments: fruit squash for the children,
coffee or tea for parents (or grandparents or ‘minders’), biscuits for both and there
is almost unlimited opportunity to chat.
Sunday Club (formerly Wednesday Club, latterly Tuesday Club)
This is a meeting for
people with learning disabilities and their carers. It usually meets on the third
Sunday of each month at 4.30 pm for tea and chat at Beechwood Road. The meeting may
sometimes include singing, Bible reading or a talk, and possibly a video or slide
show. Food and drink are served during the meeting. Please check at 01883 342711
for the next date.
A coffee, cake and conversation morning for people who ‘have retired from work but
not from life’.
We meet at 10am on the first Friday of the month. We have a variety
of activities – in February 2010
we had a stunning violin recital by Phoebe Goddard
of the Yehudi Menuhin School. We have had talks
on the weather, the Diamond Riding
Centre, the Crystal Palace and Guide Dogs as well as singers
– a soloist and a school
choir.
Because the refreshments and chat are so popular we now have Extra Moments
on the third Friday
of the month, with no entertainment except our own company.
Bible Studies
There are various small group Bible studies that meet during the month,
at different times and places.
Courses
We frequently run ‘Christianity Explored’ courses at all sorts of times of
the week, in various group sizes, more or less arranged to suit an inquirer’s diary.
For those more committed there are often follow-up courses, further Bible studies
and baptismal classes.
According to demand we run a parenting course, a marriage course and ‘Drug-Proofing Your Kids’.
Football
The church runs a five-a-side football club which meets most Monday evenings at Warlingham School.
